ROUTER HELP
Before you can share files on any mirc network you must have your router set to
allow files to send. Anyone can recieved files but sending requires a a few steps.
First your firewall needs to be set to allow Mirc, this is normally automatically set
when you first log into mirc. A security box pops up for firewall asking you to allow
simply click on allow. Next your Antivirus might block sending of files and must be
set to allow also. Most of the time you can just turn off the Antivirus Firewall or
Network Shield section but its best to wait and have an operator test your ability
to send files before changing your antivirus settings. Norton is almost impossible
to set for sharing files. Most users uninstall it from the control pannel add/remove
programs section and download the AVG - Free Antivirus software.
To set your router you will first need to know your IP and Default Gateway numbers
click here for instruction. FIND IP
Write these numbers down you will need them.
What router do you have? If its not listed here then you can go to www.portforward.com and
lookup your make and model router. You will need to go to the irc-dcc settings. Only one thing
you will need to change it the settings they tell you is the port numbers. The are setting the
ports at 1024 - 5000, we use different ports here so substitute them with 7000 - 7020.
Here are a few basic routers we have added here for your help. Like I said it yours in not listed
here follow the www.portforward.com link.
